What is the code of ethics?
For over 80 years the REALTOR ® Association has developed and enforced a Code of Ethics for its members. As the practice of real estate has evolved over time, so has the Code. It is reviewed annually and updated as needed.

The following is a summary of the 17 Articles of the Code of Ethics. This is only a summary. REALTORS® pledge to:
- Be honest with all parties to a transaction.
- Avoid misrepresentation or concealment of pertinent facts.
- Cooperate with other brokers.
- Disclose ownership or self-dealing.
- Disclose current or contemplated self-interest.
- Disclose other fee sources to clients.
- Disclose dual compensation to all parties.
- Use trust accounts.
- Put agreements in writing.
- Avoid discrimination.
- Show competence in field of practice.
- Present true representations in advertising.
- Seek legal counsel when needed.
- Support the Code of Ethics process.
- Avoid false statements about competitors.
- Respect client/agent relationships.
- Arbitrate disputes.
