How do I file a complaint?

Anyone may inquire about enforcement of the Code by sending an email or calling Kaaren Winkler of the Washington REALTORS® at 800-562-6024 x-140.  All calls are held in strictest confidence. The Association only acts to investigate a potential ethical violation when the complaint is filed in writing and in the proper format.  Information you should know before you file an Ethics Complaint

The following is a summary of the 17 Articles of the Code of Ethics. This is only a summary. REALTORS® pledge to:

  1. Be honest with all parties to a transaction.
  2. Avoid misrepresentation or concealment of pertinent facts.
  3. Cooperate with other brokers.
  4. Disclose ownership or self-dealing.
  5. Disclose current or contemplated self-interest.
  6. Disclose other fee sources to clients.
  7. Disclose dual compensation to all parties.
  8. Use trust accounts.
  9. Put agreements in writing.
  10. Avoid discrimination.
  11. Show competence in field of practice.
  12. Present true representations in advertising.
  13. Seek legal counsel when needed.
  14. Support the Code of Ethics process.
  15. Avoid false statements about competitors.
  16. Respect client/agent relationships.
  17. Arbitrate disputes
